Natalie and Erica have both been acute care and emegency nurses for over 10 years. Though they are new in the world of medical aesthetics, they undoubtedly know their way around injections. With no lack in nursing experience, it is only with true desire that they want to make people feel better in a whole new and different way.
Our physician Medical Directors Amanda and Chelsea have been working as family medical and emergency physicians for a number of years. With their shared passion to begin helping people in a new fashion the group teamed up to make Astraea Aesthetics.
All 4 team members have taken an intense, hands-on course provided by Frida Academy where only the best injectors graduate with extensive training in neuromodulators and dermal fillers.
We are new to the world of medical aesthetics but it is our absolute promise that we will always go above and beyond to provide you with the best service that you deserve.

“Botox” or “Dysport” are neuromodulators. These are injectable drugs that relax and soften the skin by restricting your muscles from contracting. This can in turn help reduce and prevent wrinkles, decrease oil production and provide facial contouring.

Prior to Treatment:
Do not use Botox if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not use Botox if you suffer from any neurological disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis or Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Avoid Alcohol and blood thinners for 24hrs prior to treatment to reduce bruising/bleeding. This includes Advil, Aspirin, Aleve, Omega 3, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, Ginkgo, St. John’s Wort, or garlic.
Day of Treatment:
No lying down for 4-6 hours after your treatment to avoid migration of your Botox.
Avoid touching or applying pressure to treatment sites. If you must apply makeup, and wash or moisturize your face, be gentle.
No blood thinners or alcohol for 24 hours post procedure. These may increase risk of bleeding and bruising. You may use Tylenol for any pain relief needs.
Avoid strenuous exercise and extreme temperatures for 12 hours post treatment. These can prevent Botox from settling into treatment area correctly.
Small bumps or bruising can occur and you may experience some stinging to treatment areas. This is only temporary and ice to treatment areas may help. Some clients may also experience headaches for 1-2 days post treatment.
Followup:
Your Botox treatment will start to take effect in 2-3 days, with full results in 2 weeks.
If you experience any asymmetry or "spocking" at day 14 please book a touchup.
Effects will last approx. 3-4 months. This varies person to person and depends on the treatment area.

Dermal fillers are gel-like injections that can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, fill lost volume in the face, soften creases and enhance contours. These are injected under the skin to give you a more youthful appearance and give you the confidence you need.

Prior to Treatment:
Avoid Alcohol and blood thinners for 24hrs prior to treatment to reduce bruising/bleeding. This includes Advil, Aspirin, Aleve, Omega 3, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, Ginkgo, St. John’s Wort, or garlic.
You can not receive filler if you have an active cold sore at time of treatment. No problem, will see you when your cold sore clears up. If you are prone to cold sores please discuss this with staff prior to your filler treatment.
Day of Treatment:
Avoid touching or applying pressure to treatment sites. If you must apply makeup, and wash or moisturize your face, be gentle.
Sleep on your back x2 weeks post treatment if possible.
No blood thinners or alcohol for 24 hours post procedure. These may increase risk of bleeding and bruising. You may use Tylenol for any pain relief needs.
Avoid strenuous exercise and extreme temperatures for 12 hours post treatment. These can cause filler migration.
Ice treatment area, 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off to minimize swelling/bruising.
Day 2:
Continue to ice area.
Resume normal activities.
Day 3 On :
may switch to warm compress to area to minimize bruising and aide in healing.
If any lumps/nodules are felt you may massage lips starting today.
Followup:
Your filler treatment shows immediate results, however there will be initial swelling.
If you experience any asymmetry (or just want more fullness) at day 14 please book a touchup.
Your filler will last anywhere from 4-18 months (possibly longer). This varies person to person and depends on the treatment area.

Every person is different. This can be dependent on your anatomy, muscle strength and aesthetic preference. We will discuss this at your appointment to find the right amount for you.

Neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport) will typically last between 3-4 months.
Dermal fillers can last anywhere between 4 months to as long as 2 years. This will vary person to person and between the areas of injection.

You bring the friends and supply the location, we bring all the supplies.
This can have a fun “party” feel or be as simple as a nice quiet visit with friends while you get your beauty on.
Host is responsible for supplying any food/snacks they desire at their event.
The host of parties with 5 or more guests will get 15% off discount.
We can also accommodate smaller parties (2-4 guests).
We will have set dates available for party bookings. These dates may include weekdays or weekends, days or evenings. We may however also be able to accommodate specific date requests so please message us for any specific date requests.
We will do party bookings in and around Calgary and south areas. Message us to see if we will come to you and your friends.
Can you have another small business share their products/services at our party? Yes. Please just message us your ideas so we can be sure there wont be any interferences.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a device wih tiny needles that create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. This is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy.

There are so many benefits to Microneedling including:
improving skin texture and tone
reduction of fine lines & wrinkles
improving the appearance of scars and stretch marks
improvement pigmentation
increases the penetration of skin care products
minimizes pore size

Microneedling Pre Treatment
-Must be off any photosensitizing medications (ex. Accutane) and blood thinners for 6 months-1 year prior to treatment.
-No retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or acids 5-7 days prior to treatment as these may increase sensitivity.
-Do not take any anti-inflammatory medication (ex. Advil/Ibuprofen/Motrin) for at least 3 days prior to your treatment (and 7 days post) as these can interfere with the natural inflammatory process that is critical for your skin rejuvenation.
-Avoid unprotected sun exposure at least 2 weeks prior to treatment. (We will not microneedle sun burned skin)
-Do not shave the day of procedure to avoid irritation (shave day prior).
-Take antiviral agent (Valtrex) for 2 days prior to treatment if you are prone to cold sores. Please let us know if you require a prescription for same.
Booking your Appointments
-Book Botox appointments 2 weeks pre or post microneedling
-Book any facial waxing 1 week prior to or 2 weeks post microneedling
-Book Laser/IPL treatments 2 weeks pre or post microneedling
-Book microneedling 2 weeks pre permanent makeup treatments or after same has fully healed
Contraindications
Avoid microneedling treatments if:
-You scar easily or are prone to keloid scarring.
-You are pregnant (delays healing).
-You have any open wounds to treatment area or ACTIVE acne (covering more than 30% of treatment area).
-You have had recent radiation therapy (within last 6 months).
-You are taking any blood thinners daily or any photosensitizing medications like Accutane. (Must be off same for AT LEAST 6 month prior to any treatment)
-You have any ACTIVE skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis.
-You have any bleeding disorders like hemophilia/Von Willebrand disease.
If you have diabetes, smoke or former smoker or are immunosuppressed you could experience delayed healing. Please speak with us prior to treatment date if this applies to you.
After Care
Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid using cleansing tools, retinol and other active ingredients for one week.
After 24 hours, wash face with warm water and a gentle cleanser. Apply sunscreen (SPF 30 minimum) and skin care product provided at your appointment.
Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 2 weeks.
Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating (including hot tubs/saunas) for at least 72 hours.
Avoid touching, picking or rubbing skin.
Avoid ice, arnica/bromelain and anti-inflammatory medications (ie: Advil) for 1 week as these may interfere with the natural inflammatory process critical for skin rejuvenation.
You may use Tylenol for pain relief.
Redness, mild swelling or bruising and sensitivity can be normal and is only temporary.
For best results we recommend 4-10 treatments that are spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that involves removing dead skin cells and peach fuzz off of the face using a scalpel.
This exfoliation procedure leaves your skin looking brighter and smoother.

There are so many benefits to Dermaplaning! Here are a few:
softer feeling skin
better penetration of skin care products
smoother application of make up
brighter appearing skin
acts as a light exfoliation
removes that peach fuzz nobody wants

Dermaplaning Pre Treatment
-Must be off any photosensitizing medications (ex. Accutane) and blood thinners for 6 months-1 year prior to treatment.
-No retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or acids 48 hours prior to treatment as these may increase sensitivity.
-Avoid unprotected/prolonged sun exposure at least 48 hours prior to treatment. (We will not treat sun burned skin)
-Wait minimum 4 weeks after any invasive medical chemical peels/procedures prior to dermaplaning. (Can however have dermaplaning prior to same)
Booking your Appointments
-Can book Botox appointments same day as dermaplaning. Should be done prior to Botox.
-Book any facial waxing 1 week prior to or 2 weeks post dermaplaning
-Book Laser/IPL treatments 2 weeks pre or post dermaplaning
-Can book dermaplaning close to permanent makeup treatments or after same has fully healed if in same areas being treated.
Contraindications
Avoid dermaplaning treatments if:
-Allergy to Nickel (ensure use on nickel free blade)
-You scar easily or are prone to keloid scarring. (not absolute contraindication as nicks to the skin are rare with dermaplaning)
-You are pregnant (not absolute contraindication, however pregnancy delays healing).
-You have any open wounds to treatment area or ACTIVE acne (covering more than 30% of treatment area).
-You have any raised lesions on the skin such as cold sores (we can however just avoid these areas if needed)
-You have skin cancer to treatment area
-You are taking any photosensitizing medications like Accutane. (Must be off same for AT LEAST 6 months prior to any treatment)
-You have any ACTIVE skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, or active bacterial or fungal infections to treatment area
-You have any bleeding disorders like hemophilia/Von Willebrand disease or are taking any blood thinners daily. (*not absolute contraindication as nicks to the skin are rare with dermaplaning)
If you have diabetes, smoke or former smoker or are immunosuppressed you could experience delayed healing. Please speak with us prior to treatment date if this applies to you. After Care
Wash your face with lukewarm water the night of your treatment and apply a light moisturizer. (preferrably nonscented medical grade)
You can return to your regular skincare routine in 24 hours
Always wear sunscreen! (SPF 30 minimum)
No exfoliating for 7 days
Avoid direct sun exposure for 48 hours
Avoid touching, picking or rubbing your skin
(Sensitivity and redness can be normal and is only temporary)
